Wade Hampton Coleman, Jr., was born on June 10, 1904, the oldest child of the children of Wade H. and Lillian Coleman of Livingston, Sumter County, Alabama. After completing his education at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama in 1937, he taught in the University’s College of Arts & Sciences for over 25 years as a professor of Romance Languages.
